Helpful Ideas To Follow When Choosing Solar Powered Garden Fountain Kits
Author: Amber Liddell
Your garden is certainly the most suitable place to go green. After all, this is the place to show, in a small scale, how much you care for the nature. Now, you might be thinking that artificial accessories like water fountains can be a step backward in this regard. But, you will be happy to know that the solar fountain has made installing a fountain possible without doing any damage to the environment at all.
Apart from being eco friendly, you will save money as well. Another great advantage of the solar fountain is that there is no need to dig in the garden to bring the cables of power to the fountain. Rather, you can install the solar panel easily and conveniently by staking it or mounting it up to 6 feet away from the fountain. But, there are certain things that you have to keep in mind while installing the solar fountain in your garden. Some of the solar water fountains come up with separate solar panels connected to the fountain with the cord. This enables you to place the fountain wherever you like.
The first and foremost important thing to consider here is the location of the fountain. You must ensure that the panel is located in a free space. This will provide the adequate sunlight to power the solar fountain. At the same time, the birds playing in the fountain will be able to see whether any predator is flying around. When you are installing the solar fountain, you would like to ensure that the panel is placed in the sunniest part of the garden. This will allow it to absorb maximum energy and improve its functionality.
Once you ensure that, you have to now think about the different styles available for you. This can be decided after having a clear idea about the garden. For example, if your garden has a pond, it will be best to have a floating fountain. Some of them are so beautifully constructed that they will look like a lily pad and spray the water. There are other shapes such as fish, frogs and other animals available as well.
Also, there are solar fountains that are designed in the classical shapes and styles. Among them, there are the tiered fountains, the cascading ones and so on. There are different solar fountain kits available as well. Inside them you will find water pump, solar panel, and a cable. With these kits, you can turn your existing fountain into an eco friendly solar fountain.
One great thing with the solar fountains is the flexibility. There is no need to tie it with the electric power of your home. Consequently, you can move it as freely as you like. Some of the solar fountains even provide you with rechargeable battery backup so that you can run the fountain whenever you like. Also, the cord attached to the panel is quite lengthy so that you can place the fountain away from the panel just at the place where you prefer it. The maintenance of the solar fountain is also not very complicated. So, they are ideal to enhance the beauty of the garden.

Statues are a symbol, a representation of a person, an animal, or an event. They are detailed and elaborate and provide insight to the past or are just fun depictions of daily life. Statues are also often seen in a town square or in an art gallery or museum. We gaze at the statues with awe and wonderment, gazing at their magnificence. But what if we are able to take statues and bring them into our homes? They may not be life size or grand, but they can certainly add a unique look to your outdoor landscape. Statues help give your garden or patio character and theme. With many different types of statues to choose from, I’ve selected a few styles that will create a dramatic and refreshing look to your already growing garden.
Animal Statuaries
Statues of animals give the backyard a playful and laid back look. If you’re an animal lover, collecting animal statues around the yard show your love and dedication to any playful creature. In essence, you may start your own “zoo” of animal statues. Here are a few animal status to consider adding:
Copper Lion Wall Sconce
A combination of classic and bold designs forms this majestic lion sculpture. Highly skilled, old-world artisans used modern techniques to create this intricately detailed piece. Each sculpture is made by hand in order to meet the highest standards of quality. A lightweight copper glass is coated with pure copper metal and then treated to produce a long-lasting and enjoyable work of art that will endure the elements of nature and withstand the passage of time.
Brass Dragon
Dragons are known to have spiritual importance and significance in various cultures and religions around the world. In Asian cultures, in particular, dragons are valued as a symbol of the ancient forces of nature, religion and the universe. Dragons are also associated with wisdom and are often said to be wiser than humans. This statue of a brass dragon will make a statement around your flower garden or pond. Made of brass and finished with a verdigris patina, this handcrafted statue will surely withstand the sun and the elements without having to worry about the color fading. It is also outfitted with the ability to include a water pump. The brass dragon statue displays a spray of water and is, therefore, perfect for ponds.
Sea Turtle
If you love the water and are a fan of creatures of the deep, then you may consider a sea turtle statue for your outdoor oasis. Sea turtles are graceful creatures that make their home in the sea, and will surface on the land to lay their eggs. This cast aluminum statue with a verdigris finish will immediately grab the attention of your guests.
Classical Statuaries
The classical era was a time period in which high culture and high art reigned. It is also known as the golden age, from the late 18th century to the early part of the 19th century. Here are a few examples of classic statues to incorporate into your outdoor environment:
Buddha Solar Fountain
Add a splash of Eastern flair with this Buddha statue. It also serves as a fountain, that operates by the rays of the sun. Considered to bring good luck if you own one, this Buddha solar fountain has water flow through the bronze-finished statue. Solar-on demand provides consistent performance even on overcast and cloudy days, using the patented technology combination of a battery and solar panel. This esoteric Buddha will bring peace and serenity to any area of the outdoors.
Miracles of Heaven Statue
With the good book laid out neatly on her lap, the angel spends a brief moment to pray. She may be praying for peace, hope, guidance, and love. This statue is a highly detailed whimsical sculpture that will make your garden seem like a good place to reflect and meditate life. It has the appearance of concrete, but is actually cast from lightweight, durable polystone. Polystone is a weather durable resin material that maintains the intricate detail of the artist’s original sculpture.
Lady Buddha
In addition to the male Buddha, add a Lady Buddha statue to your garden collection. Buddha in modern culture is the embodiment of enlightenment through peace and tranquility. The stunning, yet serene Lady Buddha is handcrafted of durable resin that will withstand the outdoor elements. With an antique look, intricate detailing, and the portrayal of Buddha in a meditative state, this statue will add a sense of calm to your outdoor environment.
Garden Gnomes
Garden gnomes were first introduced in the United Kingdom in the middle part of the 19th century by Sir Charles Isham. He brought almost two dozen garden gnomes home, made out of terra cotta, home from a trip to Germany and decorated his garden with the little statues. Today, garden gnomes have become a popular outdoor accent to many gardens. They are beautifully crafted by hand and made out of weather resistant cast-stone resin. Here are a few kinds of garden gnomes that will be sure to add a playful look to your backyard:
Welcome to my Garden Gnome—he sits on top of the “welcome” sign, inviting all to enjoy the wonders of the outdoor garden
Gnome Reading Book—this gnome is obtaining all of the knowledge his brain can absorb.
Welcome Sign Gnomes—two gnomes carry a welcome sign with a tiny turtle to greet visitors new and old
Bird Bath Leaf Gnome—this gnome is carrying a leaf in anticipation of feathered friends to stop by and splash around
Laughing Gnome—always happy, this laughing gnome will be sure to make you smile.
Viewing a statue does not have to be done at a museum or park because you can now own one that is your very own. Garden Winds has a collection of statues for the animal lover, the art lover, and the silly garden gnome collector. Handcrafted with great detail and constructed out of durable materials, these types of statuaries will add wonder to an already magical garden.

Designing an outdoor living area can be daunting, particularly when you feel like every decorating decision you make is set in stone. However, it is possible to create an outdoor space that can be changed slightly with movable garden structures. When we think of movable outdoor objects, we typically think of our patio furniture, bird feeders, and bird baths. All these items can be moved around to change the look or feel of your yard; however, there are a variety of other outdoor structures that can provide beauty and function because of their mobility.
Consider pots of annual flowers that can be moved as blooms fade in different parts of your garden and splashes of color are needed. Also, when you are entertaining, it is always nice to be able to move pots of flowers near the entry way or to an outside seating area where your guests can enjoy them. While hanging pots are not as easy to move, they can also be exchanged for one another if additional privacy or varying color is needed in an area.
Another garden structure that can be moved without too much trouble is a small fountain. They can usually be placed about anywhere you have electricity, and in fact, even that is not necessary if you've purchased a solar-powered fountain. One of the nicest things about a fountain is the background noise they create. The sound of moving water is very relaxing, and in an outdoor setting it can also be quite useful for drowning out other noises, like some nearby neighbors conversing, for example.
Solar landscaping lights are another great decorating element that's portable. One option is to move your lights around in your yard or garden to accentuate various plants when they're blooming or at the peak of their season. Portable solar lights are also great for providing some additional outdoor lighting in a particular area, as needed. For example, an evening barbeque or special outdoor dinner party might benefit from some extra outdoor lighting that's easily moved around.
Most people don't typically think of large outdoor structures such as garden arbors and pergolas as being portable, but it is possible! Many garden arbors feature special bases so they can be sat on a flat surface, such as a deck or patio, and moved around as needed. Often times, the bases can be weighted down on each side with pots of flowers, adding extra color and aesthetic appeal, as well. A portable garden arbor or pergola is a beautiful and easy way to decorate the entrance to an outdoor party or the front door of your home during a special occasion.
Don't forget to also consider portable patio trellises and outdoor privacy screens in your decorating plans. A movable trellis or privacy screen is ideal for adding a little extra privacy wherever you might need it. Patio trellises are usually designed with a flat base, similar to portable arbors and pergolas, allowing you to reposition them easily. Some patio trellises even feature planter bases so you can plant flowers or vines to grow up the trellis, while still maintaining its portability! These items are wonderful for use in neighborhoods where privacy fences or tall hedges or bushes are not allowed.
When designing your outdoor living space, don't feel like the layout has to be completely static. Movable garden structures such as pots of flowers, solar lights and portable garden arbors and patio trellises not only lend aesthetic appeal and utility to your design, but their portability also makes your space more flexible. By simply incorporating a few of these items, you can create an outdoor oasis that changes easily to meet your needs.

Landscape lighting can be used to illuminate trees, shrubs or patios and decks. They can turn an average night time landscape into an exciting place to entertain friends and parties. One of the great ways to use landscape lighting is with water features like fountains and pools. If done correctly a good landscape lighting installation will greatly enhance any water feature. It can illuminate a pond from within or make a fountain glow but there are a few items to consider before starting your landscape lighting project
The first step is to choose the correct lighting for your specific project. Fountains do best with a submersible light. Submersible landscape lights are placed below the surface of the water in the basin and pointed upward toward the body of it. They help to create a shimmering effect as well as illuminate the fountain. It also illuminates the streams of water being sprayed into the basin of the fountain. Color filters offer are a very simple way to add flavor. Many times lights will come with colored lenses that can add a great deal of ambience to your landscape.
Another option is to use non-submersible lighting that is placed at the base of the water feature. Landscape lighting options include solar, incandescent or LED landscape lighting. Solar landscape lighting is very popular these days because they are so easy to install, use no electricity and have a much less negative effect on the environment. LED lighting is also a great choice because it is much less expensive than traditional incandescent lighting (saves as much as 50% on power usage) and can last much longer as well. Moonlight globes are a great option for large water features such as ponds, pools and large fountains. They are battery operated free floating globes that light up and create a stunning effect in the landscape. They also can be hard wired and permanently installed around the base of water features as well to create permanent lighting. For parties, these are fantastic because the battery operated versions can be put away and stored for later use. A great feature with these globes is the speakers that they can come with because they create great ambience.
Studying your specific site and the particular setting that your water feature is in is important to determine the type of lighting that you would want to use. In some cases, up lighting is the best choice and in other situations down lighting may be preferred. Or as mentioned above, using landscape lighting from within could be the preferred method.
With the right planning from the beninning, landscape lighting can be incorporated so that it is obscure and nonintrusive. Other fountains will require overhead lighting to be installed to adjacent trees or structures.
Choosing the correct lighting techniques for your fountain will take a little planning on your part. You will want to experiment with a flashlight at night to see exactly the locations that will best serve you for your fountain lighting project. Many times fountains are the centerpiece of the garden and need to been lighted more heavily. The best idea is to choose lights that will not be overpowering but still illuminate your water feature. Do a little research and planning prior to starting the project to insure that the results are what you desired.
